Dr. Akang, Ph.D. in Anatomy (Reproductive Biology) from the University of Lagos, has a distinguished career focused on male reproductive health. His Postdoctoral Fellowship in Andrology at UKZN, South Africa, led to groundbreaking insights on impact of HIV antiretroviral therapy on the male gonad. As an Associate Research Scientist at Yale, he advanced HIV attachment and fusion inhibitor research, and later, as an Andrology Specialist at UPMC, USA, deepened his expertise in male fertility. With over a decade as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lagos, he inspired future scientists through courses in Human Embryology, Histology, Neuroanatomy, and Gross Anatomy. Currently, at the Medical University of Vienna, Dr. Akang examines HIV’s epigenetic impact on sperm, oocytes, and embryos. In his free time, he enjoys jogging, gym workouts, traveling, and family time.
